Tyrannt Mythology

World
Tyranna Is a world of fantasy and is home to various Human, Elf, Dwarf and gnome communities.

Nomandia

Nomandia is a large island in the world of Tyrannt and is home to a mixture of all the races.

Tanmere
Is the biggest town in Nomandia. This town is host to the Warriors Guild and the Street Guild. There are mixtures of all races living in this town and it is where the Council of Nomandia have their castle.

Hancemarket
This Human town was formed buy a trader called Mikroft Hance and it grew from a small village into a relatively big town. The Gnome village of Prigwell is very close to this town which doesn't go down well with the natives of Hancemarket. The Priest Guild is located in Hancemarket.

Verrincil
The Elven village of Verrincil was formed around the Mages Guild which is located here and the village is mainly there to service the guild. Verrincil is thought of as a very magical place. The Dwarf village of Grunden is very close by and the Elven village is built from the stone mined by the dwarves in Grunden.

Prigwell
Prigwell is a small gnome village which is close by the town on Hancemarket. The humans believe that much of the goods stolen from the trading market in Hancemarket could be found in Prigwell if the Gnomes there weren't too good at hiding their ill gotten goods.

Grunden
Grunden is a Dwarf village situated close to Verrincil. It is formed round a mine and quarry which is used by the dwarfs to trade with other races, especially the elves. You will probably see as many elves as dwarves in Grunden as they seem to get on very well with each other.

Paramor Ruins
The ruins of this castle once belonged to Sir Ganis. As legend has it Ganis was corrupted by his closest advisor and attacked the Grunden mines. Ganis was killed shortly after the raid by his advisor. The advisor never made it out of the castle alive. The castle was sacked by thieves months later, but the treasure was never found. Rumour is that the ruins are inhabited by a host of spirits and undead beings. The treasure is said to be somewhere in the vast dungeons beneath the ruins. All that have gone seeking this booty have yet to return...

Loomara Ruins
This ruined tower was originally home to the Human Wizard Melkator. The tower was destroyed during the "Event" that destroyed a lot of humans in the past. Melkator was thought to have been experimenting with merging human and animals, Insects and reptiles together and was rumoured to have started the giant rat, spiders and snake races. No one knows if this is true, but there seem to be a lot of these creatures on and under the island where his tower remains now stand. And thanks to the magical bridge built by the mages guild to make it easier for them to retrieve the magical reagent Spider Whort, which can only be found on this island, the Giant Rats, Spiders and snakes have now managed to spread all over Nomandia. It is also rumoured that Melkator is still alive in the tunnels under the ruined tower and does not like visitors.

Tyranna – A bit of history

Pre-History

Humans populated most of the planet. They started to become industrial and started to consume the planets resources. The planet then was called Sepia but its natives. Part of the mining of resources a material called Manopium was discovered. It was quite rare and at first was feared as it caused people to die in horrific disfiguring ways. (Akin to radioactive material). Some of the people discovered that this material if packed into salt, it shielded the harmful effects of the material. Later it was discovered by accident, if heated together with the salt, the combination was extremely explosive. And when detonated by compressing, it could destroy vast areas. And the place remaining after the explosion was extremely harmful to the people as mentioned before, and the effects seemed to last for hundreds of years.
Two large nations of Sepia, went to war with each other and both were trying to create Manopium bomb, unfortunately, one side managed to find a very large quantity of Manopium underground, and until too late discovered that this deposit was surrounded by salt and was close to a volcano that had been extinct for many hundreds of years. One day while mining the Manopiun and driven by the war effort, they decided to blast a stubborn section out, unknown to them, this section was very close to the salt shell and had been heated for years by the volcano. The blast they triggered had a catastrophic effect. It caused a chain reaction in most of the Manopium on the planet. Around ninety percent of the population was wiped out in the incident.
As a side effect of the Manopium being spread all over the planet it caused years of mutations in the survivors. These mutations ended up creating the races that live now on the planet.

The emergence of the races

Elves

These evolved from humans that were quite close to the area where the explosion happened. They lived high up on a mountain range and managed to get quite a high dose of Manopium poisoning. They have now evolved into a race of people who actually can make use of the Manopium that is in the atmosphere. They call this Mana. Their bodies have adapted to be able to use mana to aid them. They were the first race to produce people who could cast spells. Their bodies absorb and store the mana, and by concentrating on symbols and words they can consume the mana and turn it into physical phenomena, from creating balls of super heated air to healing wounds. All races eventually were able to produce mana users, but the elves were the first and have the most skill at it. They began to mix with the humans at around year 500, but tended to keep to themselves. They prefer to live in forests near the base of the mountain where they survived the explosion. A side effect of their early adaption to Manopium, means they tend to live for around 200 years, but they reproduce a lot less frequently than other races. Around 1049, there was a big earthquake which damaged most of the elves settlements. It was that time that the Dwarves broke out of their underground habitat which was near the base of the mountain that the elves live under. The dwarves helped the elves re-build their settlements using their knowledge of construction. Because of this, the elves and dwarves became good friends and live in peace with each other up till the current time. It was the elves who gave the world its new name. It was named after their god of life, Tyrann. Tyranna means to the elves the world of life.

Dwarves

These people grew from miners of one of the Manopium mines. They managed to survive the explosion trapped underground in an area the survived the devastation and for century’s they lived of fungi and Manopium poisoned water that flowed into the caves. They emerged into the world in year 1050 after an earthquake damaged their underground cave system forcing them to break through onto the surface. During their time underground, they became a lot shorter and stronger than normal humans, they have good night vision but poor daylight vision. Their tolerance to light is improving by each generation so they can if they wish live outside now. They still prefer to live underground as it is where they are best suited. They first met the elves not long after they emerged from the caves. The elves helped tend to their sick and wounded and in return, the dwarves helped them rebuild their settlements after the earthquake.

Humans

A small amount of humans survived as they were before the explosion although all the races have now built up a tolerance to Manopium in the atmosphere. They were living on an island around the opposite side of the planet when it happened as an upshot of this they are less resistant to magic. Due to overcrowding on their island, the humans build boats and started to sail around the world looking for new areas to settle. This is where the calendar starts from. Year 1 was when the first humans left their island in search of new places to land. There were two factions of humans, the Highland tribe and the lowland tribe. As with the pre-history, the humans tended to fight each other in those early days. The highland tribe were not as well off as they lived on the mountainous regions of the island and found it hard to plant crops for food and were forever stealing from the lowland tribe. So much so that the lowland tribe decided to leave the island in search of a new land they could call their own. They built ships enough so that most of their population could leave the island. They sailed north. Those that remained in the lowland got killed and invaded by the highland tribe. Due to their lack of nutrition the highland tribe tended to be short and after spending around 100 years alone on the island, they too decided to leave and try to follow the lowland tribe north. It wasn’t till around year 850, they finally came into contact with the highlanders again, but by now the highland tribe had changed considerably in appearance and attitudes. They called them selves...

Gnomes

The gnomes carried on their downward trend of size and spent most of their time aboard ships on the sea, they travelled around in armadas of around fifty to one hundred ships. They named themselves after mythical creatures called The Nomus. It was supposed to be a race of small people who lived underwater. The gnomes became quite a friendly race of people, though extremely inquisitive. They tended not have many morals either, and had quite a reputation when they met up with their highland brethren in 850 of stealing things that were not tied down or locked away. They took things that meant nothing to them, they just loved the sport of taking things. So the humans tolerated the gnomes, but didn’t really get on well. The time they spend on the sea gave the gnomes a great understanding of water so much so they were fantastic at finding it on land, which was the main reason why the other races tolerated them as they were good to have around when setting up a new colony. Gnomes still love sailing around the world in boats but some have taken to land living and it is these that have most contact with the other races. They met the other races around.
