Tyrannt is a Role Playing Game engine. It has been designed based on my old experiences of RGP Games in the 8 bit days. One of these games which got me completely hooked is called Tyrann, it was created by a company called No Mans Land and was designed to run on the Oric 1 computer.

Ever since this I have been a computer RPG fan. Over the last few years, I’ve got interested in creating my own old style computer RPG which is turn based combat and you have a party of generated characters. Because Tyrann was such an influence to me from ages ago, I’ve decided to pay homage and call my engine Tyrannt.

During this project I bumped into Dave (In a virtual way) who is called Rattle on these forums and he has offered to work on the graphics for the engine and I could not have got where I am today with out his major contribution to this project.

An old school friend called Steve has helped in the first incarnation of the engine by working out formulas for things like line of sight and route paths which will be carried on into this version of the engine.

Another person who has helped when the games was being developed is Midnight on these forums, he has been recently working on a back story for the word the engine is going to be set in.

A few other people who are credited in game have helped in testing the engine.

This whole project is a hobby for me so I plan to release it for nothing. Though please do not use any of the media from this engine/game without getting permission first.

As it stands now, Tyrannt is split into two components:

1) Tyrannt Toolkit

This is a tool that can generate games to run in the Tyrannt Player. The current version of the toolkit (Downloadable from the Tyrannt Downloads block on the right) has a Character Race, Guild and class generator plus an Item generator. In the future we plan to Add a Monster Generator and a Maze Generator. (See relevant forum sections for more details)

2) Tyrannt Player

This is the program that runs the game created with the toolkit. Currently this is still in the early stages as I am trying to create components which will plug together to make the game work. Examples of these can be downloaded from the Tyrannt Downloads on the right hand side of the page.

You can view all the pages on this portal with out creating an account. But if you want to post then please create an account and I will approve as soon as possible. The reason for this is due to the amount of greedy idiots out there that want to spam forums with advertising.
